Court Sentences Three to Double Life Imprisonment in Sensational Double Murder Case

In a landmark judgment, a local court in Nagaud has sentenced three individuals to double life imprisonment in a chilling case that saw the murder of two women at a roadside diner three years ago. The court also sentenced two others to five years in prison each, imposing a total fine of over 6 lakh rupees on the convicts.

The sensational crime, which took place near Sitpura in the Nagaud police station area, involved the fatal shooting of two women at the Baba Dhaba, a diner owned by Angad Prasad Joshi. The incident occurred overnight between June 6 and 7, 2019, and shook the local community to its core.

First Additional Sessions Judge of Nagaud, Sachin Sharma, found five of the seven accused guilty in this harrowing case. The court handed down double life sentences and fines to Pawan alias Punyapratap Singh, Ujjwal Gupta, and Bunty alias Shivanshu Tripathi. In addition to the life terms, the convicts were also sentenced under the Arms Act, receiving various terms of imprisonment and fines.

The case highlighted a deep-seated land dispute involving Ramnaresh Pandey and Angad Prasad Joshi, which escalated to the tragic night of violence. According to the prosecution, Pandey had arrived at the diner, threatening Joshi with dire consequences. Later, the convicted trio, known to frequent the diner, demanded marijuana from Joshi. Upon refusal, they resorted to violence, leading to the shooting of Joshi and the subsequent murder of his two wives, Maya and Champa Joshi, as they attempted to intervene.

The State Government’s prosecution was led by Special Public Prosecutor Vinod Pratap Singh, whose efforts ensured the successful conviction of the accused.
