Supreme Court Grants Temporary Relief to Ramdev and Balkrishna in Misleading Advertisement Case

In a significant development, the Supreme Court of India granted interim relief to yoga guru Baba Ramdev and his associate Acharya Balkrishna from Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. from appearing before the court until further orders. The case revolves around the alleged misleading advertisements related to Patanjali’s products.

During the hearing, the Supreme Court acknowledged Baba Ramdev’s substantial contributions to yoga, influencing its global reach and acceptance. Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah, presiding over the bench, praised Ramdev’s efforts in promoting yoga and remarked on the public’s trust in him, suggesting that he should continue to use his influence positively.

The court also addressed IMA President Dr. Ashokan, reprimanding him for inappropriate comments and questioning his conduct regarding the contempt proceedings. Despite Dr. Ashokan’s unconditional apology and submission of a formal affidavit, the court expressed dissatisfaction, emphasizing the need for responsible public communication from such a significant figure.

The decision to initiate contempt proceedings against Ramdev and Balkrishna will be held pending, with the Supreme Court reserving its final judgment.
