Supreme Court Collegium Recommends 12 Additional Judges for Appointment as Permanent Judges Across Four High Courts

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of 12 Additional Judges as permanent judges of the Gauhati, Uttarakhand, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh High Courts.

The recommendations were made at the Collegium meeting held on September 23, 2026, according to separate statements issued by the Supreme Court.

Gauhati High Court

The Collegium has recommended Justice Kaushik Goswami, presently serving as an Additional Judge, for appointment as a permanent judge of the Gauhati High Court.

Uttarakhand High Court

Justice Subhash Upadhyay, an Additional Judge of the Uttarakhand High Court, has been recommended for appointment as a permanent judge of the High Court.

Kerala High Court

The Collegium has recommended five Additional Judges for appointment as permanent judges of the Kerala High Court. They are:

1. Justice P. Krishna Kumar
2. Justice K.V. Jayakumar
3. Justice Muralee Krishna S.
4. Justice Jobin Sebastian
5. Justice P.V. Balakrishnan

Andhra Pradesh High Court

Five Additional Judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court have also been recommended for appointment as permanent judges. They are:

1. Justice Maheswara Rao Kuncheam @ Kuncham
2. Justice Thoota Chandra Dhana Sekar @ T.C.D. Sekhar
3. Justice Challa Gunaranjan
4. Justice Avadhanam Hari Haranadha Sarma
5. Dr. Justice Yadavalli Lakshmana Rao

The recommendations concerning all 12 judges were considered by the Supreme Court Collegium at its meeting held on September 23, 2026.
