“Pursuit of Justice Is a Continuous Journey,” Says CG HC Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha at Durg Judicial Seminar

Bilaspur, April: 27A one-day Divisional Judicial Seminar for Judicial Officers of Durg Division was organized by the Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy at the Conference Hall  in Durg .The event was organised under the able guidance of Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha , Chief Justice High Court of Chhatisgarh. The seminar was attended by 76 Judicial Officers from five Civil Districts of the Durg Division. The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh & Patron in Chief Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy, virtually inaugurated the session. This ceremonial moment symbolized the illumination of justice and legal wisdom.

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ramesh Sinha, delivered an inspirational address for Judicial Officers of the Durg Division, emphasizing that “ In today’s time, the expectations from the Judiciary are very high . People look to us with great hope. They seek fairness, speed, and sensitivity”.

His Lordship highlighted that “the trial of cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act, the Doctrine of Specific Performance of Contracts, the principles of Document Exhibition and Admissibility, and the procedures related to Arrest, Remand, and Bail, with special reference to recent judgments of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, and Juvenile Justice Act are topics we are set to deliberate upon the seminar, are fundamental pillars of our Criminal and Civil Jurisprudence. 

Mastering these areas is not merely a matter of procedural compliance but a crucial aspect of ensuring fair trials, upholding individual liberties and fostering public trust in the judicial process”, remarked his Lordship.

Hon’ble The Chief Justice stressed that “ the pursuit of justice is a continuous journey, not a destination. It demands constant vigilance, a willingness to adapt, and an unwavering commitment to the ideals enshrined in our Constitution. Your work is not just a profession; it is a sacred trust, a service to the Nation, and a beacon of hope for those who seek justice”.

Hon’ble The Chief Justice also discussed that “Judicial Officers work through complex legal issues, manage growing numbers of cases, and deal with the social changes that impact our Courts. Judicial Officers are expected to not only have a strong knowledge of the law but also a deep understanding of human nature, to approach cases with empathy, and to stay committed to fairness at all times”.

Hon’ble, the Chief Justice, encouraged active participation in the seminar and called Judicial Officers to engage in knowledge-sharing, discussions, and collaboration. “Let us exchange ideas, share experiences, and continue building upon the foundation of knowledge that strengthens our work”.

Hon’ble The Chief Justice concluded his address with confidence in the seminar’s potential impact: “I am confident that the deliberations during this seminar will be highly enriching and will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate these complex legal landscapes with greater confidence and competence. I urge all the participants to engage actively. Share their experiences and learn from each other. Seminars like this help us stay informed and motivated. Our common goal is to uphold the rule of law, deliver justice in a fair and timely manner, and continue to strengthen public trust in the judiciary”.

The seminar was also graced by the presence of Hon’ble Smt. Justice Rajani Dubey, Judge High Court of Chhattisgarh and Chairperson Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy.

Hon’ble Justice Smt. Rajni Dubey, Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court and Chairperson of the Committee to Monitoring the Functioning of CSJA, also addressed the inaugural session. She stressed the need for judicial officers to continuously update their knowledge.

A total of 76 Judicial Officers from Durg, Kabirdham, Rajnandgaon, Balod Bemetara Districts participated, presentations were given by the participants on the subjects- Navigating legal shifts in the trial of cases under Negotiable Instruments Act: Procedural guidelines and best practices, Doctrine of Specific Performance of Contract-Law and Procedure with special reference to recent Apex Court’s Pronouncement. Limitation on the availability of Specific Performance, The basic guiding principles for Mastering Document Exhibition and Admissibility: Navigating Objections effectively, Provisions relating to arrest, remand and bail with reference to guidelines issued by Hon’ble Supreme Court in Satender Antil vs. CBI and Siddharth vs. State of U.P. and provisions relating to disposal of property in criminal case, & Bird eye view: Trial of cases and sentencing under Juvenile Justice Ac

The event was attended by the Registrar General of the Chhattisgarh High Court, Registry Officers. Judicial officer of all other Districts Virtually attended the Event. Welcome address delivered by Principal District & Sessions Judge Durg and introductory address was given by Director Chhattisgarh Judicial Academy & concluded with a vote of thanks by Additional District and Sessions Judge Durg.
