He further said that the concept of Lok Adalat is based on the Gandhian Principles, and fulfills the provisions of Article 39A of the Indian Constitution.
Lok Adalat has been prevalent in Indian history as a medium of alternative dispute resolution in the form of mutual negotiation and mediation in the Panchayat system across the village level, and today our judicial officers are doing this work very well.
Appreciating the commitment of the presiding officers towards the National Lok Adalat, he motivated them to resolve more cases in the upcoming National Lok Adalat 09-12-2023, so that more and more people can get the benefit of the Lok Adalat.
While delivering the inaugural address, Executive Chairman of the State Legal Services Authority, Honorable Shri Justice Gautam Bhaduri said that judges should evaluate their own work, there are a large number of compoundable cases pending in the courts, which can be resolved through Lok Adalat. The efforts of the judges have been commendable.
It is necessary for the judicial officer to be satisfied with his own work. He further added that Along with the pending cases, about 10 lakh pre-litigation cases have also been resolved through Lok Adalat, which shows that the said cases have been resolved even before they are instituted in the court, which is a huge achievement.
Along with this, cases are also being resolved through mediation by judicial officers, which is a commendable effort. The party comes to the court in the hope of justice, hence the aggrieved party should get quick and easy justice. Lok Adalat has an important role in this task, which the judges are fulfilling with full responsibility.
Addressing the program, Honorable Shri Justice Sanjay K.Agrawal, Chairman of the High Court Legal Services Committee said that definitely Lok Adalat is a simple and powerful means of resolving the cases.
A large number of cases are pending in big cities like Raipur, Durg, in which there are more cases of motor accident and check dishonor under Negotiable Instruments Act, which have been amicably resolved through mutual understanding through Lok Adalat, which also reflects the success of Lok Adalats and the cooperation of the judges in this is commendable.
