The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on April 14, 2026, has approved the proposal for the appointment of two advocates as Judges of the High Court of Kerala.
The Collegium, headed by the Chief Justice of India, recommended the names of Smt. Preeta Aravindan Krishnamma and Smt. Liz Mathew Anthraper for elevation to the Bench.
The decision was formalized in a statement issued by the Supreme Court following the Collegium’s deliberations on Tuesday. The proposal pertains to the elevation of members from the Bar to the High Court judiciary to fill existing vacancies in the Kerala High Court.
The Appointees
The two advocates recommended are:
- Smt. Preeta Aravindan Krishnamma: An advocate practicing before the courts, now set to be elevated to the High Court.
- Smt. Liz Mathew Anthraper: A seasoned advocate, whose name has been cleared for the judgeship.
Procedure for Appointment
Following this recommendation by the Collegium, the names will be forwarded to the Union Ministry of Law and Justice. The Ministry will process the files and send them to the President of India for formal warrants of appointment. Upon receiving the Presidential assent and subsequent notification in the Official Gazette, the advocates will be sworn in as Judges of the Kerala High Court by the Chief Justice of the High Court.
The Kerala High Court, which has a sanctioned strength of judges comprising both Permanent and Additional Judges, will see a strengthening of its judicial ranks with these proposed appointments.
