In a recent round of recommendations, the Supreme Court Collegium, in a meeting held on June 2, 2026, has approved the appointment of twelve individuals to judicial positions across four state High Courts. The recommendations include a mix of judicial officers, advocates being elevated to the bench, and the regularization of additional judges.
The Collegium’s recommendations affect the High Courts of Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Punjab and Haryana.
Significant Elevations in Karnataka
The most substantial list of recommendations pertains to the Karnataka High Court, where six advocates have been proposed for elevation as High Court Judges. The recommended advocates are:
- Shri Raghavendra Seetharam Srivatsa
- Smt. Hema Kulkarni
- Shri Subramanya Rangarao
- Shri Thadagavadi Prakash Vivekananda
- Shri Bakkeswara Pramod
- Shri Hombe Gowda Shanthi Bhushan
Judicial Officers Promoted in Himachal Pradesh
For the High Court of Himachal Pradesh, the Collegium has approved the elevation of three current Judicial Officers. Those recommended for appointment as High Court Judges are:
- Shri Chirag Bhanu Singh
- Shri Bhupesh Sharma
- Shri Yogesh Jaswal
Advocate Elevated in Madhya Pradesh
The Collegium also recommended the appointment of one advocate, Shri Amit Lahoti, as a Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh.
Additional Judges Made Permanent in Punjab and Haryana
Finally, the Collegium approved the proposal to make two current Additional Judges of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana permanent. The judges recommended for permanent status are:
- Shri Justice Harmeet Singh Grewal
- Shri Justice Deepinder Singh Nalwa
These recommendations will now be sent to the Central Government for final approval and subsequent notification by the President of India.
