SC Collegium Clears Name of New Chief Justices for Five High Courts

The Supreme Court Collegium led by Chief Justice of India, Justice DY Chandrachud has published its recommendation for Appointment of Chief Justices in Five High Courts.

The Collegium’s Decision was taken in its meeting held on 27 December 2023 with other 2 members as Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice BR Gavai.

The Collegium has made following recommendations for Five High Courts:

Allahabad High Court

Mr Justice Arun Bhansali, Judge, Rajasthan High Court, has been recommended as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad.

Rajasthan High Court

Mr Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava, Judge, Rajasthan High Court (PHC: Chhattisgarh) has been recommended as the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court. 

Punjab and Haryana High Court

Mr Justice Sheel Nagu, Judge, High Court of Madhya Pradesh has been recommended as the Chief Justice of High Court of Punjab and Haryana. 

Jharkhand High Court

Dr Justice B R Sarangi, Judge, High Court of Orissa has been recommended as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jharkhand.

Gauhati High Court- 

Justice Vijay Bishnoi, Judge, Rajasthan High Court, has been recommended as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.
