A court in Jharkhand’s Chaibasa on Friday sentenced a couple to life imprisonment for murdering a man and concealing his body four years ago.
The court of Principal District and Session judge pronounced the judgement on Banu Minz and his wife Shanti and also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on them.
As per the FIR, Shanti Minz hit Ramesh Tirkey on the head with a log when he tried to outrage her modesty in Rundhikocha village in Anandpur area in West Singhbhum district on February 22, 2018.
Tirkey died on the spot and when Banu Minz returned home, he found the body on the floor. The duo then dumped the body in a mine and left for Surat in Gujarat two days later.
The duo was subsequently arrested and sent to judicial custody, and the body was later recovered.
