In a significant development related to the Constable Recruitment Exam Scam that came to light twelve years ago in Gwalior, the Gwalior Court has pronounced a four-year jail sentence for three accused individuals. The convicted include a candidate who impersonated another, a solver, and a middleman involved in facilitating the scam. In addition to the prison sentences, the court has also imposed fines on the accused.
The Public Prosecutor, Chandrapal, revealed details of the case, noting that the scam was uncovered during a written examination for police constable recruitment held at the IITTM examination center in Gwalior on September 30, 2012. During the examination, Brijmohan Singh from Firozabad was caught attempting the paper in place of Rinku Singh from Gohad.
Upon investigation, the accused disclosed that Mahesh Kumar, a resident of Firozabad, was involved in brokering deals for such fraudulent activities. Kumar had offered him ₹30,000 to appear in the examination on behalf of Rinku Singh. Based on this information, the police arrested Rinku Singh and the broker, Brijmohan Singh, and presented their case in court.
The case, thoroughly investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), led to the conviction of the three individuals involved. The Special CBI Court, acknowledging the evidence presented by the prosecution, sentenced each of the accused to four years in prison and imposed a fine of ₹13,100 on each.
It is worth noting that the Constable Recruitment Exam Scam has seen several convictions over the years, with the court sentencing dozens of individuals involved in similar fraudulent activities. Just last month, four other accused were sentenced to four years in prison along with fines, highlighting the judiciary’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on recruitment exam frauds.
