The Central government has approved the appointment of four lawyers as judges of the Rajasthan High Court, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced on Tuesday.
The lawyers who have been elevated to the bench are:
- Anand Sharma
- Sunil Beniwal
- Sandeep Shah
- Mukesh Rajpurohit
The appointments come after the Supreme Court Collegium had earlier this month recommended a total of seven names for elevation. However, the Law Ministry has cleared only four of them, leaving three names still pending.

As of March 1, the Rajasthan High Court was operating with 34 judges, well below its sanctioned strength of 50. The new appointments are expected to provide some relief to the overburdened court and help in faster disposal of pending cases.
This move marks another step in the Centre’s efforts to address the vacancies in the higher judiciary.
