Today, a Magistrate Court has granted bail to comedian Bharti Singh and her Husband Harsh Limbachiya.
On Sunday, The Magistrate Court at Esplanade Court, Mumbai remanded Comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Harsh Limbachiya to Judicial custody till 4th December.
Bharti Singh was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on Saturday and seized 86.5 grams of Ganja from her house, and her husband was arrested on Sunday.
According to the report of Indian Express, the NCB against the duo after arresting a 21-year-old drug peddler from the Khar Danda area on Saturday morning and seized 40 grams of Ganja, 15 LSD dots and Nitrazepam tablets from his possession.
As per the statement released by NCB, Bharti Singh and her husband have accepted that they consume Ganja and they were arrested under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
Before the Vacation Magistrate, the NCB had requested the custody of Harsh and not Bharti Singh, for seven days.
The NCB submitted that Harsh was the one who procured the drugs; therefore, his custody was needed for further investigation.
Bharti Singh and her husband Harsh Lambachiya have been arrested under relevant sections of the NDPS Act including Section 20(ii)(A), 20(b) and Section 27 for the consumption of narcotic and psychotropic substances.
The Court denied the custody of Harsh to the NCB after noting that the quantity recovered from their possession was not that much and the punishment for the alleged offence was imprisonment up to one year only, and as per the evidence, they only consumed the evidence and were not involved in the peddling of the drugs.
The duo was represented by Advocate Ayaz Khan who has also filed bail applications on their behalf which will be heard by Esplanade Court, Mumbai.
Public Prosecutor Atul Sarpande informed the Court that while Bharti Singh was sent to Kalyan jail, her husband Harsh was sent to Taloja Jail.
