Allahabad High Court Refuses to Quash FIR After 8 Years, Cites Delay in Filing as Inappropriate

The Allahabad High Court has denied a petition seeking the quashing of an FIR registered under various sections of the IPC, including charges of corruption, filed 8 years after the initial filing. Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh dismissed the plea by Jai Shankar Lal Srivastava, stating that the substantial delay in filing did not present a valid reason for intervention.

The case in question was lodged in January 2015 at the Chandauli police station, involving Srivastava and seven others under the Prevention of Corruption Act and various sections of the IPC. Recently challenged by Srivastava, the matter is currently under consideration by the Additional Sessions Judge.

The court also directed the registry to inform the trial court of this decision within a week to facilitate the commencement of proceedings.
