Karnataka HC Orders Recovery of ₹5 Lakh Grant from Madrasa After Recognition Revoked

The Karnataka High Court has directed the state government to recover a grant of ₹5 lakh disbursed to a Madrasa run by the Samara International Islamic School in Thanisandra, following the cancellation of its recognition by the School Education Department.

A division bench, while hearing a related petition, instructed the Principal Secretary of the Minority Welfare Department to scrutinise the funds allocated to the institution and initiate necessary action in accordance with law.

The court was informed that the School Education Department had revoked the school’s recognition after finding that it had created “fake” documents to obtain official sanction. Taking note of the developments, the bench stressed that all related matters must be addressed through proper legal channels.
