In a devastating event at the Patna Civil Court on Wednesday, an unexpected transformer explosion led to the death of a lawyer and severe injuries to two others. The sudden outbreak of fire in the transformer, followed by an explosion, created chaos within the court premises, prompting immediate action from the fire brigade, which rushed to the scene to douse the flames.
The deceased lawyer has been identified as Devendra Prasad, who tragically lost his life at the scene. The two other lawyers who sustained severe burn injuries were promptly taken to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for treatment, where, regrettably, one more lawyer succumbed to their injuries.
The incident incited a significant uproar among the legal community within the court premises, leading to protests demanding justice and compensation for the victims’ families. The aggrieved lawyers called for a compensation of 20 lakh rupees for the family of the deceased, attributing the tragedy to the negligence of the electrical department.
