Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been summoned to appear before the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi on February 17, following a complaint by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding his repeated non-compliance with their orders. The court, led by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Divya Malhotra, addressed the complaint during a session on Wednesday, which pertained to Kejriwal’s failure to respond to multiple summons connected to the ED’s investigation into the Delhi Liquor Excise policy for the year 2021-22.
Kejriwal has missed five separate ED summons dated November 2 and December 22 of 2023, as well as January 3, January 18, and February 2 of 2024. His absences were initially attributed to other commitments and a Vipassana session, but his absence from the fifth summons, despite being in Delhi, raised further questions. The Chief Minister has consistently argued that the summons are both illegal and politically motivated.
