On Sunday, the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh issued an important form for the Advocates practicing in the courts of the State. This form has been issued for issuing COP under the Bar Council of India Certificate and Place of Practice (Verification) Rules, 2015.
Recently, the Supreme Court upheld the validity of the Bar Council of India Certificate and Place of Practice (Verification) Rules, 2015 and directed that fake lawyers be weeded out at the earliest. Accordingly, this process is being adopted.
Let us know who has to fill this form
This form is only for those advocates, who have been given COP in the past and have been issued COP and their COP is about to expire / has expired. This rule has been implemented by the Bar Council of India.
What is the fee?
The prescribed fee of Rs.500/- (Five Hundred) in cash along with this form need to be deposited.
How to fill the form?
After completing this form, you have to get it certified by the President/Secretary of your Bar Association and submit it to the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh, Prayagraj. If the applicant advocate is not a member of any Bar Association, state the reason.
What documents will be required?
Advocate have to give alongwith form anyone proof like Vakalatnama, case list, case status, order, questionnaire appointment letter as Government and Semi-Government Advocate. Attach a photocopy of notary letter, oath commissioner appointment letter, sale deed or any other registry letter, affidavit, judgment, any proof by an advocate practicing taxation that it is clear that the advocate is doing law profession etc. (Attach the above form only for 04 years i.e. year 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022. Year 2020 is exempted due to Covid-19.
If any criminal case has been registered in the last 05 years, its details and status has to be given.
Photo state form is also Acceptable
Photostat of renewal form of Certificate and Place of Practice (Verification) is also acceptable and you can download Certificate and Place of Practice (Renewal) form from the website of the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh website www.upbarcouncil.com.
