Supreme Court Schedules October 16 Hearing on Deleted West Bengal Voter Names Ahead of Civic Polls

The Supreme Court will take up petitions on October 16 seeking the prompt resolution of appeals lodged by individuals whose names were removed from West Bengal’s electoral rolls.

The disenfranchised voters submitted their pleas to the court after being excluded during the state’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. The petitioners are requesting that the judicial process for their pending appeals be expedited so their voter eligibility can be addressed without delay.

The legal challenge arises ahead of upcoming municipal elections across West Bengal. The excluded individuals told the court that they seek to protect their voting rights in order to cast their ballots in the approaching civic elections.
