AAP MLA Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra, representing the Amargarh constituency in Punjab, has withdrawn his plea from the Supreme Court that challenged his arrest and subsequent remand by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) concerning a money laundering investigation. This case is linked to an alleged bank fraud involving approximately Rs 40 crore.
The decision to withdraw the plea was granted by a bench consisting of Justices Bela M. Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma, who allowed Majra’s counsel to withdraw with the liberty to approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court for bail considerations.
Previously, the Supreme Court had declined to grant interim bail to Majra, who sought release to participate in the campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Additionally, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had dismissed his plea challenging the arrest, noting no illegality in the procedure followed by the authorities.

The allegations against Majra stem from investigations conducted by both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the ED. In May 2023, the CBI raided several premises associated with Majra as part of the bank fraud probe. Earlier, in September 2022, the ED had conducted its own raids on multiple locations linked to him in relation to the same case, resulting in the seizure of Rs 32 lakh in cash, several mobile phones, and hard drives.
