Pune Porsche Crash: Teenager’s Grandfather Arrested, Alleged CCTV Tampering Emerges

In a developing story linked to a tragic Porsche crash in Pune, which resulted in the deaths of two software engineers, the grandfather of the teenage driver has been taken into police custody until May 28. Authorities claim that the DVR from a CCTV camera, which might hold crucial evidence about the crash, was found at his residence and appears to have been tampered with.

The arrest was made early on allegations of “wrongful confinement” of the family’s driver following the May 19 accident. The prosecution, presenting the case before a holiday court, suggested that the DVR’s footage had been altered and needed cyber forensic analysis.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar revealed that both the father and the grandfather of the minor had attempted to coerce the driver into taking responsibility for the accident by offering bribes and threats.

The court was informed that the grandfather, a well-known figure in local real estate, had previous legal entanglements in Kondhwa, Bund Garden, and Mahabaleshwar. Despite his defense’s claim that he was in Delhi when the crash occurred and only returned to Pune the following morning, the court decided on police custody to further investigate the matter, including recovering the driver’s confiscated phone.

Defending the accused, Advocate Prashant Patil argued against the claims of wrongful confinement, suggesting the driver had willingly stayed in the servant quarters of the accused’s bungalow. He also highlighted the accused’s health issues and requested that provisions be made for medical emergencies.
