The Allahabad High Court has asked the Centre to provide an exact vaccination programme to overcome the Covid -19 pandemic.
A Division Bench of the Court ordered the government to file a better affidavit by 05.02.2021 mentioning when the first phase of the vaccination would end and phase two begins.
Earlier, vide order dated 12.01.2021 the High Court asked the government to form a proper vaccination plan.
When the Court took up the case on 22nd January, the government could not provide a fixed timeline. It was submitted that when the health workers’ vaccination ends, then vaccination for people who are above 50 would start.
The Court also cautioned that public vaccination was a long drawn public health scheme, and it would take time to develop herd immunity through the vaccination process. The Court also directed the police to ensure that everyone wears a face mask until the vaccination process is complete.
The Court remarked that it was not the time to relax while directing DGP, Uttar Pradesh to personally make sure that wearing face masks is ensured in the State.
