Supreme Court Bar Association has urged CJI NV Ramana to allow the Advocates Chamber building in New complex to be used at COVID19 care centre.
It has further been requested to prepone Summer vacations to start from April 26 and end on June 6, 2021 in view of rising Corona Virus cases.
Earlier one Supreme Court lawyer Shobha Gupta has written to Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and the Supreme Court Advocates on Record Association (SCAORA) suggesting that the new Supreme Court Lawyers chamber at Appu Ghar (it is vacant at present) be offered to the government to be used as a Covid treatment facility.
Ms Gupta stated that the current situation was terrifying and worrying, and the least we can do is give whatever little we have to society. She further stated that we have a vast building meant for lawyers who are lying vacant. She requested the Members to have a word with the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India and other judges to work out if the facility could be offered as a Covid facility.
She further stated that the facility could be used to save many lives. She also suggested that an online help desk should be set up, and members of SCAORA and SCBA can form small teams and help manage the situation.
Ms Gupta also requested Hon’ble CJI and judges in charge of SC dispensary or the Medical Facilities Committee for their cooperation. She stated that this would help members to obtain necessary and timely help. She further stated that the teams would be available on WhatsApp, call and email, and ensure that it is updated from time to time.
