In a significant development for the legal services in Uttar Pradesh, Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai, the Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority and a Supreme Court judge, inaugurated the new office building of the Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority in Gomti Nagar Extension, Lucknow. The ceremony began with Justice Gavai unveiling the foundation stone and cutting the ribbon, followed by planting a sapling in the premises to mark the commencement of operations.
During the event, Honorable Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta highlighted the achievements of the Legal Services Authority, focusing on the progress made through Lok Adalats in resolving disputes efficiently. Justice Arun Bhansali emphasized the importance of upholding the human rights of prisoners and their rehabilitation. Justice Vikram Nath discussed the critical role of the Under Trial Review Committee and the necessity to empower juvenile offenders towards self-reliance.
The ceremony concluded with Justice Gavai applauding the efforts made by the state authority in the field of legal services and urging further strengthening of these initiatives. The event saw active participation from secretaries of the District Legal Services Authorities, newly appointed civil judges, social welfare officers, probation officers, legal aid advocates, paralegal volunteers, and students from various law colleges. The event was ably hosted by Shikha Srivastava and Nishant Dev, with Justice A.R. Masoodi extending thanks to all guests and participants.
