HC directs corporations and municipalities to conduct massive disinfectant spraying activities to keep the Corona Virus in Check

The Madras High Court on Thursday directed all local bodies including corporations and municipalities in the state of Tamil Nadu & Pondicherry to conduct massive disinfectant spraying activities.

A bench of Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy was hearing a petition seeking the massive sanitization and disinfectant spraying activity.

In reply to the request of the petitioner, the Learned Advocate-General submitted that the World Health Organisation Guidelines regarding the use of the material in the disinfectant spray is already being followed in the State.

The Court also directed the state government to conduct the sanitization drive as it is a preventive step to keep the spread of coronavirus in check.

“Since this is also a preventive measure which is suggested by the petitioner, the State should ensure to sanitize and spray disinfectants, to the extent possible and within the existing constraints, to ensure that the airborne virus is kept at somewhat of a check.”
