Ghaziabad Bar Association Files Writ Petition in Allahabad High Court to Address Courtroom Safety and Alleged Misuse of Power

In a significant move to safeguard the integrity and safety of court proceedings, the Ghaziabad Bar Association has filed a writ petition in the Allahabad High Court, demanding heightened courtroom safety measures. This urgent action follows an alarming incident in Ghaziabad, where it is alleged that the District Magistrate used force against unarmed lawyers, raising serious concerns about the misuse of administrative power and the protection of legal practitioners within the judicial premises.

According to representatives from the Ghaziabad Bar Association, the incident occurred earlier this week during a routine courtroom proceeding. Eyewitnesses claim that tensions escalated when a verbal disagreement between the District Magistrate and several lawyers turned confrontational, culminating in what they describe as an “unjustified show of force” by the District Magistrate’s security team. Lawyers present at the scene reported that they felt threatened and humiliated, fearing not only for their own safety but also for the sanctity of the legal environment.

The Ghaziabad Bar Association has taken a firm stance, arguing that the alleged actions represent a grave breach of courtroom decorum and a misuse of authority that undermines the fundamental rights of legal professionals to work without fear of reprisal. “The safety of lawyers and the impartiality of court proceedings are non-negotiable,” stated a senior member of the Bar Association. “This incident has shaken our confidence, and we are seeking the intervention of the High Court to restore faith in the judicial system and hold accountable those responsible.”

The Bar Association is urging the court to review current security protocols within court premises and to establish strict guidelines on the permissible scope of power held by administrative authorities within the judicial environment.
