Delhi High Court Round-Up for March 6

Important cases heard in the Delhi High Court on Monday, March 6:

* Justice Amit Sharma took the oath of office as a permanent judge of the Delhi High Court.

* HC has set aside a trial court order for the registration of an FIR against BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain and his brother over several alleged offences, including rape, and directed that the matter be considered afresh by a lower court.

* A lawyer approached the HC seeking transit anticipatory bail in a case lodged by Tamil Nadu Police for allegedly giving false information claiming attacks on migrant workers in the state.

* HC sought the stand of the Centre on a plea for enhancement of pecuniary jurisdiction of civil courts here from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.

* HC has denied bail to a man facing prosecution in a 2020 northeast Delhi riots case in which the associates of former AAP councillor Tahir Hussain allegedly looted valuables worth over Rs 20 lakh from a godown.

* HC directed the National Consortium for Research, Development and Therapeutics (NCRDT) for Rare Diseases to hold a meeting and give recommendations regarding funding of clinical trials for DMD, a rare disease.

* HC directed the city government to undertake a special recruitment drive to clear the backlog of vacancies in posts reserved for persons with disabilities in a time-bound manner.
