The Delhi High Court on Wednesday provided temporary relief to suspended trainee IAS officer Pooja Khedkar by extending the stay on her arrest until August 29, 2024. The court’s decision comes amidst allegations that Khedkar misrepresented facts in her application to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
Justice Subramaniam Prasad presided over the hearing of Khedkar’s anticipatory bail plea, which has been postponed due to the absence of a response from the Delhi Police in the court records. The hearing was deferred to allow for a comprehensive review of UPSC’s response, which opposes Khedkar’s plea for anticipatory bail. Senior Advocate Siddharth Luthra, representing Khedkar, requested additional time to review the UPSC’s opposition.
During a previous session, the High Court had issued notices to the Delhi Police and UPSC regarding Khedkar’s anticipatory bail plea, highlighting the trial court’s failure to sufficiently discuss the basis of denying bail. The High Court noted a lack of detailed discussion in the trial court’s order, which merely mentioned the public prosecutor’s claims about the involvement of others in brief.
