Cases Triable by the Magistrate Can’t be allocated to the Sessions Court, Rules Supreme Court

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court clarified that the jurisdiction of special courts formed to try criminal cases against MPs and MLAs, in such cases that are triable by the Magistrate, can’t be assigned to Sessions Judge. According to the Bench, the assignment of such cases to special courts should be done in accordance with CrPC
