Allahabad HC Postpones Hearing of Irfan Solanki’s Bail Plea in Extortion Case to May 8

In a recent proceeding, the Allahabad High Court adjourned the bail application hearing for Irfan Solanki, a former MLA from the Samajwadi Party, in connection with an extortion case. The case, which has captured considerable public and media attention, will see its next hearing on May 8.

Irfan Solanki, who has been under scrutiny, is accused in a criminal case lodged in 2022. The charges against him include extortion by inducing fear of death or grievous hurt under Section 386 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and provisions from the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act. This case is tied to allegations at the Jajmau police station in Kanpur Nagar.

The adjournment followed the Uttar Pradesh government’s compliance with a previous court directive dated April 4, which resulted in the submission of a counter affidavit. Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh, presiding over this high-profile case, scheduled the upcoming hearing, continuing the legal battle surrounding Solanki.
