In an exciting development, the Allahabad High Court yesterday imposed a cost of 50K in a case wherein the counsel requested an adjournment in a case in which the Hon’ble Judge was about to dismiss the case.
However, the Bench stayed the order for the time being when the counsel stated that he would argue on the next date.
In the order, the judge stated after Justice Thaker said that when he told the counsel that the court was about to dismiss the case, the counsel sought adjournment in the case. Subject to a cost of Rs 50000 as the court’s valuable time was wasted.
However, the court stayed the cost after the lawyer promised to argue the case on 19th July.
In another case, the Allahabad High Court declined to hear a lawyer who appeared before them through video conferencing while driving a scooter.
