A Division Bench of Allahabad High Court comprising Hon’ble Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Hon’ble Justice S.D. Singh heard today the Suo Motu Petition of Police Brutality on Lawyer in Etah District of U.P.
The Suo Motu cognizance has been taken on the letter of General Secretary of High Court Bar Association Allahabad.
Today various lawyers appeared before the court and placed reliance upon the video, which went viral in Social Media.
Mr. Abhishek Yadav, Lawyer who also wrote a letter to Chief Justice for taking Suo Motu cognizance was also present during the hearing and told us that the Court after hearing the parties has directed the Chief Judicial Magistrate Etah to submit a report on this issue.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Etah has been directed to make a necessary inquiry by availing all relevant facts including audiovisual electronic documents and submit to the Court on or before next date of listing.
The District Magistrate, Etah as well as Senior Superintendent of Police, Etah have been directed to co-operate the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Etah and they shall supply all relevant facts and documents as desired by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Etah to furnish report of the incident to the Court.
The next date of hearing is 08.01.2021
