The Allahabad High Court on Monday declined to hear a public interest litigation seeking an independent probe into the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Temple, pointing to an ongoing case on the same issue currently before the Supreme Court.
A Lucknow-based bench of the high court, consisting of Justices Rajan Roy and Manjive Shukla, officially disposed of the petition. The judges chose not to deliberate on the merits of the allegations, noting that the country’s highest court is already reviewing the matter.
Requested Audit And Investigation
The petitioner, Mohit Ashok, had approached the court to request an independent inquiry into allegations that offerings and monetary donations contributed by devotees at the Ram Temple had been misappropriated. Additionally, the plea sought an order directing the Comptroller and Auditor General of India to conduct a formal audit of the temple’s financial records.
Because the Supreme Court is already actively considering these issues, the high court determined that further independent examination was unnecessary and concluded the proceedings.
