Himayani Puri, daughter of Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, has approached the Delhi High Court seeking the removal of social media content that allegedly links her to convicted American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In her plea, she has sought ₹10 crore in damages, along with directions restraining several entities from circulating what she describes as “false” and “defamatory” material online.
The lawsuit, which is expected to come up for hearing before the Delhi High Court later this week, alleges that a coordinated campaign on multiple digital platforms falsely connected Himayani Puri to Epstein and his crimes.
In her petition, Puri claimed that a series of misleading and defamatory posts began circulating online around February 22, 2026. According to the plea, the content was spread widely across various social media and intermediary platforms.
“Commencing on or around 22.02.2026, a series of false, misleading and defamatory posts, articles, videos and digital material were published, disseminated and amplified across social media and intermediary platforms including inter alia X, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, digital news portals and other web-based publications,” the plea stated.
Puri has asked the court to restrain the defendants from further publishing or sharing the alleged defamatory material. She has also sought an unconditional apology and retraction from the entities involved.
In the lawsuit, she described the online posts as part of a “coordinated and malicious online campaign” aimed at linking her to Epstein. The plea states that the defendants circulated “baseless imputations” suggesting that she maintained direct or indirect business, financial, or personal connections with the convicted offender.
Rejecting the allegations, Puri asserted that the claims are entirely unfounded.
“The allegations are entirely false, malicious and devoid of factual foundation,” the plea said.
The petition also emphasises that Himayani Puri is an accomplished finance and investment professional and argues that she is being targeted solely because she is the daughter of Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
The Delhi High Court is expected to consider the plea in the coming days.
