Bomb Threat Emails Sent to Three Chhattisgarh District Courts; No Explosives Found

Three district courts in Chhattisgarh were thrown into high alert on Wednesday after receiving bomb threats through anonymous emails. The affected courts were located in Rajnandgaon, Ambikapur (Surguja district headquarters), and Jagdalpur (Bastar district headquarters), prompting swift police action and full-scale security checks.

According to officials, the first of the threat emails landed in the inbox of the Rajnandgaon district court around 10 am. Police teams, accompanied by bomb disposal and dog squads, quickly evacuated the building and launched a comprehensive search operation. Similar precautionary evacuations and searches were carried out at the courts in Ambikapur and Jagdalpur after they too received identical threat emails.

Despite the heightened alarm, officials confirmed that no bombs, explosives, or any suspicious objects were found during the searches. A senior police officer from Bastar district affirmed that the Jagdalpur court premises were cleared after an extensive sweep turned up nothing dangerous.

This incident echoes a similar scare earlier this month on January 8, when the district courts of Rajnandgaon, Durg, and Bilaspur received hoax bomb threats via email. In those cases, the threats were also determined to be baseless.

Police authorities have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the emails and identify the sender(s). Cybercrime units are expected to be involved in tracking down digital footprints left by the culprit.
