The Coordination Committee of All District Courts Bar Associations of Delhi has announced a complete abstention from work in all district courts on August 22 and 23, 2025, in protest against a recent notification issued by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. The circular, dated August 13, 2025, designates police stations as the places for recording the evidence of police officials.
An urgent meeting of the Coordination Committee was held on August 21, where members expressed strong opposition to the notification, calling it arbitrary, unlawful, and against the fundamental rights of the public and the legal fraternity.

Representation to Authorities
On August 20, the Committee submitted a representation to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, the Union Home Minister, the Union Law Minister, the Chief Justice of India, the Chief Minister of Delhi, and the Delhi Home Minister. In it, they pointed out that the notification conflicts with an earlier circular issued by the Home Secretary, Government of India, on July 15, 2024.

The Committee urged the authorities to withdraw the notification and warned that failure to do so within two days would lead to a strong protest by the Bar Associations.
Decision to Boycott Courts
Despite the representation, the notification has not been withdrawn. In response, the Committee unanimously decided that no advocate shall appear in any court—either physically or through virtual mode—on August 22 and 23. Advocates have been urged to cooperate, and strict action has been warned against those appearing before any court during the protest period.
The Coordination Committee will meet again on August 23 to review the situation and decide further action based on prevailing circumstances.
