The Calcutta High Court has given the green light to a planned protest by the Kamal Sangh Kolkata, concerning alleged atrocities on “West Bengal Sanatani Hindus,” under specific conditions to avoid public disruption. The demonstration, scheduled for Friday, is spearheaded by Sunil Harsh, President of Kamal Sangh Kolkata, with BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari expected to preside.
During the proceedings, Justice Tirthankar Ghosh addressed the concerns regarding the potential for traffic disruption and the mismatch between the proposed location and the address provided by the organizers. The court’s decision allows the event to go forward, provided it adheres to the guidelines set by the state, particularly in terms of location and timing.
The state counsel highlighted that while the authorities do not oppose the protest per se, it should not interfere with normal traffic flow. The recommendation was to hold the protest away from main roads and within a designated timeframe to manage the crowd effectively, which is anticipated to number up to 3,000 participants.
Justice Ghosh urged the organizers to ensure clarity on the exact location of the protest to prevent any last-minute confusions, stating, “Tomorrow morning you come. You do it, I am not preventing…” The court is set to issue a formal order on Friday morning, detailing the conditions under which the protest may be conducted.
