Delhi Court Grants Bail to Lalu Yadav and Sons in Land-for-Jobs Case

In a significant development on Monday, a Delhi court granted bail to former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his sons, Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav, in the ongoing land-for-jobs corruption case. Special Judge Vishal Gogne of Rouse Avenue Court approved their bail applications, setting each bond at ₹1 lakh and underscoring that none of the accused had been arrested during the investigative phase.

The Yadav trio appeared in court responding to earlier summons that were issued after the judge took cognizance of a supplementary charge sheet filed against them. The enforcement case stems from a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) FIR, leading to charges laid by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The court has scheduled the next hearing for October 25, where the case will continue to unfold. This case involves multiple members of the Yadav family, with Lalu Prasad’s wife, former Bihar CM Rabri Devi, and daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav, also implicated. Notably, Rabri Devi and the other named family members received regular bail in the related ED case earlier this March.

Tej Pratap, representing the sixth member of his family charged in this case, remained defiant outside the courtroom. He echoed sentiments of political targeting, stating, “They keep indulging in political conspiracy. They misuse agencies. There is nothing concrete in this case. Our victory is certain.”
