In a unique resolution, the Delhi High Court has quashed an FIR against a man and his two sons, previously accused of molesting a woman relative, after noting that the parties involved have reached an amicable settlement. The court, led by Justice Anoop Kumar Mendiratta, further directed each of the accused to plant 50 neem saplings as part of their agreement.
The decision came after the court was informed that the dispute, which included allegations of molestation, causing hurt, theft, and wrongful restraint made in 2015, had been resolved through mediation. Both the complainant and the accused are related and expressed their intention to put the matter to rest and move forward harmoniously.
Justice Mendiratta emphasized the peaceful resolution of the family dispute, stating, “In the facts and circumstances, instead of imposing the costs upon the petitioners, they are directed to plant 50 saplings of neem trees each.” The planting is to occur in the area of the Chhawla police station, under the supervision of the appropriate horticultural authorities.
The court mandated that photographs of the planted saplings, along with a police report, should be submitted within eight weeks. Additionally, the maintenance of the saplings is to be overseen by the authorities, ensuring the environmental initiative’s success.
