In a shocking turn of events, a retired judge from the Andhra Pradesh and Allahabad High Courts, D.S.R. Varma, fell victim to a fraud amounting to Rs 2.5 crore under the guise of electoral bonds. The distinguished former jurist lodged a complaint with the Hyderabad police, detailing how he was deceived by two individuals, Narendran and Sarath Reddy.
According to Varma’s complaint, the duo approached him with a proposition tied to a political party, promising not only to acknowledge the contribution through electoral bonds but also to facilitate a comfortable resettlement for him and his grandchildren in the United States. Trusting their assurance, Varma’s family members transferred the substantial sum in several transactions throughout 2021.
The Film Nagar police, acting on Varma’s complaint, have initiated legal proceedings against Narendran and Sarath Reddy, charging them with criminal breach of trust and cheating. The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
