CJI Dipak Misra Collegium Intended to Harass Me with Transfer to Allahabad High Court, Claims Retiring Chief Justice Pritinker Diwaker

In a surprising turn of events, retiring Chief Justice Pritinker Diwaker of the Allahabad High Court has spoken out against a decision made by the Collegium led by then Chief Justice of India, Dipak Misra. Diwaker claims that his transfer from the Chhattisgarh High Court to the Allahabad High Court in 2018 was ill-intentioned and designed to harass him.

Speaking at his farewell reference upon retiring from the High Court, Justice Diwaker expressed his surprise at the transfer and said that the reasons behind the decision were still unknown to him. However, he stated that the transfer ended up being a positive experience, as he received overwhelming support from fellow judges and members of the Bar.

Despite the alleged injustice, Justice Diwaker expressed gratitude to the current Chief Justice, DY Chandrachud, for rectifying the situation. It was CJI Chandrachud who recommended Diwaker to take over as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.

Justice Diwaker also reminisced about his journey in the legal profession, expressing his view that everything on the planet can be achieved with an appetite for knowledge and a sense of responsibility towards society’s downtrodden. He also shared his early days, saying he was never good academically but always had a passion for sports, which helped him develop an all-round personality.

In the end, Justice Diwaker thanked his colleagues and family members for their support in his decision to become a judge and affirmed his dedication to providing relief to the needy through the dispensation of justice.
