Seven High Courts to Get New Chief Justices- Know About Latest SC Collegium Recommendations

In a major development, the Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, has recommended the appointment of Chief Justices for seven High Courts. 

This move comes as a significant step in ensuring the efficient functioning of the judicial system across the country.

The recommendations were made for the High Courts of Kerala, Orissa, Manipur, Andhra Pradesh, Bombay, Telangana, and Gujarat.

The Collegium has recommended the name of Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, a judge of the Allahabad High Court, for the position of Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.

Among the recommendations is the appointment of Justice Sunita Agarwal, currently serving as a judge of the Allahabad High Court, as Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court.

Furthermore, the Collegium has proposed Justice Ashish J Desai, who is currently Acting Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court, for the position of Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.

Another notable recommendation is the appointment of Justice Subhasis Talapatra, a judge of the Orissa High Court, as Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court.

Moreover, the Collegium has proposed Justice Siddharth Mridul, a judge of the Delhi High Court, for the position of Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court.

Additionally, the Collegium has recommended Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur, a judge of the Bombay High Court, as Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

Lastly, Justice Alok Aradhe, serving as a judge of the Karnataka High Court, has been recommended for the appointment as Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court.
