156(3) CrpC: Magistrate has Discretion to Either Direct Police to Investigate or Treat it as a Complaint- HC

According to the Punjab and Haryana high court, a magistrate has the discretion to either refer a criminal complaint from a person to the police or to ask the complainant to present more evidence in order to reach a conclusion. The high court bench led by Justice JS Bedi found no fault with the magistrate
