In a significant ruling, the Uttarakhand High Court has provided relief to thousands of B.Pharm candidates by allowing those who did not meet the initially required first division criteria to participate in the examination process. The decision comes after a hearing on petitions challenging the conditions set forth in a notification for filling 527 various vacant posts in state polytechnics.
Previously, a notification issued on July 7 specified that only candidates with a first division in B.Pharm were eligible to apply, which excluded many from the recruitment process. The petitioners, including Vinod from Pauri among others, argued that this condition was unjust as it barred competent candidates with second divisions and other qualifications from participating. They urged the court to allow all B.Pharm graduates to compete for the posts, highlighting that the state had not issued such notifications since 2015, leaving many qualified individuals in prolonged uncertainty.
The case was presided over by a division bench consisting of Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari and Justice Pankaj Purohit, who ruled in favor of the petitioners. This decision is expected to open opportunities for a broader range of candidates and address the vacancies more inclusively. The implementation of the court’s order will be monitored to ensure fair participation in the recruitment process for the stated polytechnic positions.
