Technology Has Taken a Pivotal Role in Judicial Functioning: Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha at Inauguration of Digitization Centre in Mahasamund Court

May 7th, 2025: In a significant stride towards the modernization of the justice delivery system,  Hon’ble Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice ,High Court of Chhattisgarh, virtually led the inauguration ceremony  of the Digitization Centre at the District and Sessions Court, Mahasamund (C.G.) on May ,7th, 2025. . The establishment of this centre marks Mahasamund as the fourth district in the State to operationalize such a facility.

The occasion was also attended virtually by Hon’ble Shri Justice Narendra Kumar Vyas, Chairman of the Computerization Committee; Hon’ble Shri Justice Deepak Kumar Tiwari, Portfolio Judge of District Mahasamund; and Hon’ble Judges Shri Rakesh Mohan Pandey, Shri Ravindra Kumar Agrawal, and Shri Bibhu Datta Guru, all esteemed members of the Computerization Committee.

In his keynote address, Hon’ble the Chief Justice emphasized the increasing role of technology in judicial proceedings, stating, “Technology has taken a pivotal role in judicial functioning.” He observed that “virtual courts, digital access to case information, and e-filings have significantly reduced barriers for litigants and legal professionals, especially those residing in remote areas.”

Congratulating the judiciary and staff of District Mahasamund, Hon’ble the Chief Justice reflected on his earlier visit to the District and expressed satisfaction over the rapid progress made in judicial infrastructure and technological adaptation. He remarked that “ the inauguration of the Digitization Centre symbolizes the judiciary’s commitment to keeping pace with the times and harnessing technological advancements to enhance efficiency and transparency.”

Hon’ble the Chief Justice further underscored the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, which has consistently advocated for the integration of technology to ensure access to speedy and inclusive justice. He encouraged all Judicial Officers and Court Staff to make effective use of this new facility in fulfilling their constitutional mandate.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Mahasamund, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the I District and Additional Sessions Judge, Mahasamund.

 On this occasion, Registrar General ,Officers of the Registry,  Judicial Officers of the District Court, Distinguished Members of the Bar, Officers of the District Administration, and Media Representatives were also present, both physically and virtually.
