Supreme Court Round-Up for February 15

Important cases heard in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, February 15:

* SC said the issues related to the Maharashtra political crisis, triggered by the differences in the Shiv Sena, are “tough” constitutional questions to decide as they have “very serious” ramifications for the polity.

* SC agreed to hear on February 17 a fresh plea of a Congress leader seeking investigation under the supervision of a sitting apex court judge against the Adani Group of companies in light of the allegations made by the US-based Hindenburg Research.

* We will have to now consider the question of rehabilitation, the SC said after it was informed that a night shelter at Sarai Kale Khan here has been demolished by authorities earlier in the day.

* SC agreed to hear next week a plea seeking a direction to all the states to frame rules for menstrual pain leaves for female students and working women at their respective work places.

* It is not the quantity but the quality of witnesses which matters, the SC said while upholding the conviction and life term awarded to three convicts for murdering four members of a family in Uttar Pradesh in 2007.
