Supreme Court Gets Two New Judges: Centre Notifies Appointment of Justices N Kotiswar Singh and Mahadevan

The Central Government has officially notified the appointment of Justices N Kotiswar Singh and Mahadevan as judges of the Supreme Court of India. 

Union Law Minister informed about this development through official X handle.

This significant development follows the Supreme Court Collegium’s proposal on July 11 to elevate these distinguished jurists to the nation’s highest judicial body.

Justice N Kotiswar Singh, who hails from Manipur, is currently serving as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. 

He will be the first Supreme Court Judge from Manipur. His legal career is marked by a series of notable contributions and a steadfast commitment to the rule of law. His appointment brings a wealth of experience and regional representation to the Supreme Court, reflecting the diverse judicial landscape of India.

Justice Mahadevan, on the other hand, is presently the Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.
