Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Appointment of Nine Additional Judges as Permanent Judges in Allahabad High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of nine Additional Judges from the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad as permanent Judges. This recommendation was made after a thorough evaluation process, which included consultations and an assessment of the judges’ performance.

This decision follows the unanimous recommendation by the Collegium of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad on May 28, 2024. The Chief Minister and the Governor of Uttar Pradesh have also expressed their concurrence with the recommendation.

The process involved consultations with Supreme Court Judges familiar with the Allahabad High Court’s affairs and an in-depth review by a Committee of two Supreme Court Judges. This committee, constituted by Chief Justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud, assessed the judgments of the Additional Judges, ensuring their merit and suitability for permanent positions.
