In a significant move to address judicial vacancies, the Supreme Court Collegium, led by the Chief Justice of India, has recommended the appointment of nine advocates as judges of the High Court of Judicature at Patna.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Collegium held on February 26, 2026.
According to the official statement released by the Supreme Court, the Collegium has approved the proposals for the elevation of the following advocates to the Bench:
- Shri Md. Nadim Seraj
- Shri Ranjan Kumar Jha
- Shri Kumar Manish
- Shri Sanjeev Kumar
- Shri Girijish Kumar
- Shri Alok Kumar
- Shri Raj Kumar
- Shri Rana Vikram Singh
- Shri Vikash Kumar
The recommendation follows the established constitutional procedure for the appointment of High Court judges, where the High Court Collegium initially proposes names, which are then processed by the State Government and the Union Ministry of Law and Justice before being sent to the Supreme Court Collegium for final approval.
