Sibal lauded Justice Chandrachud’s ability to surpass the towering legacy of his father, Justice YV Chandrachud, who served as CJI for a record seven years and 14 days. “You outpaced him, judge,” Sibal remarked, praising his dedication to safeguarding life, liberty, and equality before the law.

Celebrating a Trailblazing Tenure

Sibal highlighted key attributes of Justice Chandrachud’s judicial approach, particularly his fearless handling of complex issues and his commitment to protecting fundamental rights.

The SCBA President described Justice Chandrachud as a trailblazer in disability rights and lauded his openness to criticism. “You allowed people to criticize you. What can be braver than that?” Sibal noted, emphasizing the courage and inclusivity that characterized Justice Chandrachud’s tenure.
