SC Constitution Bench rules that Section 258 of CrPC will not apply to proceedings u/s 138 of NI Act

On Friday, the Supreme Court of India ruled that Section 258 of CrPC that grants a magistrate power to stop proceedings would not apply to cheque bouncing cases u/s 138 of N.I. Act, 1881. The Bench passed this order in a Suo Motu case concerning expeditious disposal of cheque bouncing cases u/s 138 of Negotiable
